The association finances have been holding fairly steady the past few years.  As of May 15, 2004, the association's total worth was $22,824.71, consisting of $13,361.00 in a term investment account and $9,463.71 in an active checking account.  This compares to a total association worth of $20,675.84 in December, 2003 and $28,550.15 in December, 2002.

The 32nd annual conference will be in Savannah, Georgia  slated for early January, 2005.  Sharon Falk of the Kansas GMD #5 is organizing this Conference.

The Summer conference was discussed with several locations being suggested, such as, Casper WY, Winter Park CO and Steamboat Springs CO.  Final decision as to location was not reached, but likely date will be in early June 2005.

Our association with NWRA (National Water Resources Association) continues in good shape.  The Board discussed the need to have someone from GMDA attend the Resolutions Committee of NWRA on a regular basis.  This could involve more time and expense for the individual and therefore, in order to defray some of the additional cost, the need of a dues increased was discussed.  It was approved to raise the dues for a District membership from $250 to $300 and increase Association membership from $175 to $200.

The 31st annual Conference in Tampa FL was a great location and event with exceptional topics.  Jim Reasoner and Tom Cech did a great job of putting the conference together.  The speakers and topics were very informative covering Florida's water needs and challenges, such as flooding during tropical storms and hurricanes.  The post Conference water tour to an above ground water storage reservoir for municipal use for the City of Tampa was the highlight of the tour.  Thanks to all who participated!

The association is always looking for deserving persons or entities for its awards program. The association has 3 awards: Resource Person of the Year; GMDA Promoter of the Year; and Honorary Lifetime Member. If you know of anyone deserving, please submit their name and a summary of why you think they are deserving to myself, or any association board member.

As always, for more information:
